Jennie Garth loves Crocs

This super sucks. All the characters I love the best (ok, the only characters I can tolerate without wigging out in sucky-acting induced rage) are disappearing. First Shannen Doherty leaves and then will only come back for 2 episodes, and now Jessica Walter, the incomparable Tabitha, has not renewed her contract and will be appearing only sporadically.

This probably isn’t a secret trick to start a spinoff starring Brenda and Tabitha as drunk bitches on the run, right? Because that would RULE.

Brenda will be back!!

Thank heavens, Shannen Doherty has signed something to appear on 2 additional episodes. This is good, but insufficient. She needs to sign something promising to appear in any future episode of 90210 ever shot because frankly, none of the new characters are interesting and the only thrill is getting to see Brenda’s progression. I guess 2 episodes is better than nothing…

Outfit check: Shenae Grimes at Starbucks

Ms. Grimes certainly loves her caffeine – here she is picking up coffee at a Long Beach area Starbucks, on her way to the 90210 studios in Manhattan Beach. (Which is FAR from regular LA. I actually feel sorry for her for having to make that drive.) That said, getting up really early in the morning before you’ve had your coffee is not an excuse for wearing this outfit. The jeans are alright and the sandals are fine, I guess, but that tank top is like something I would wear in college when I was running really late to class and put on jeans with my pajamas and would just run out the door. Here’s the thing – nobody was taking photographs of my outfits to show in the national press back then (or now either), so it didn’t matter. If Miss Thing is going to be queen of this show, though, she has to act the part and dress it on up when she leaves the house. Every time she leaves the house. Her facial expression adequately conveys my feelings about this outfit.

Overall: C- for college is over, get yourself dressed.

Outfit check: Jennie Garth at Miley Cyrus’ Sweet 16

So Miley Cyrus got to close down Disneyland for her own private Sweet 16 Birthday party and charged her guests about $250 a ticket to come party with her. Which, well, nice if you can get it. The kind of antics I’d like to see more of from 90210 characters. Anyway, Jennie Garth came and brought her whole adorable family with her, but forgot to bother to get dressed before leaving the house. This outfit is 900% sloppy and conveys the message “I really would rather have stayed at home tonight but I guess I have to take my kids to this Disneyland bonanza thingie so how about some tights and sloppy boots?” She at least looks cute with her kids and husband.

Overall: D for Didn’t even try.

Jennie Garth: hotter than Jaslene?

Remember that Alice + Olivia dress that Jennie wore to some benefit or other that was actually cute except for the jarring yellow belt? Well apparently America’s Next Top Model Jaslene wore the same dress out somewhere in NYC except she wore a really weird coat over it. Some site is comparing the two and asking readers to vote on who looked better – and Jennie is winning despite her 10+ year advantage over Jaslene. Guess people really hate Jaslene.

Recap, Model Behavior, ep6

Yeah, this is waaay late. Sorry. My Tivo didn’t record right and I had to get the episode from iTunes and then I had to go out of town and blah. Anyway, here it is.

In this episode: Annie continues to inspire homicidal feelings in the viewing audience, Kelly and Brenda almost have a like-the-old-days fight, there’s way too much boring parents time, Navid shows back up from wherever he’s been, and Pillface graduates to the big leagues THANK GOD. Outfit check: the boys at Secret Life of Bees premiere

Here’s the boys – Tristan Wilds, Dustin Milligan, and Ryan Eggold – at the premiere for The Secret Life of Bees, which Tristan is in. Nice of the other two to come out and support him, which gives the impression that at least the men on this show can get along with each other off the set. (I’m looking at YOU, Shenae the troublemaker.) And they all look relatively well, although their varying levels of formality make it look like they’re about to split up and go to three separate events.

• Dustin, have fun going to the common room at your dorm at an exclusive east coast boarding school with other preppy boys whose fathers are capitans of industry or something. Hope you get all the studying done for your chem test tomorrow! Don’t get distracted planning pranks with the other boys in the dorm! If you actually want to go inside to the premiere, I would recommend putting on something other than a grubby undershirt and slouchy rolled up button up sleeves.
• Tristan! Congrats on your movie! Did you know that you are not in Entourage? Nor are you attending a funeral or a fancy awards show? Dressing up is fine, but all black and all shiny is waaaay too much. Chill out with your satin lapels, man.
• Ryan actually looks appropriate, primarily because someone has managed to bodily separate him from the vest he loves so much he has worn it to every previous public appearance. Now if only someone could talk to him about this newfangled invention called a razor….

Overall: A for comraderie, C for (lack of) coordination.

Recap delayed

I actually had things to do last night, so the new episode is sitting on my Tivo, unwatched. Will probably watch it tonight and recap tomorrow.

Outfit check: Shenae Grimes shopping on 3rd street

Here’s Miss Shenae shopping with some friends on 3rd Street. Which sounds really nice, actually. Wish I could skip out of work this afternoon and head down there for some bundt cakes and slightly overpriced clothing and accessories.

Miss thing actually looks pretty put together here. I like the black and white. I like the mini skirt with the high waist so she doesn’t look trampy. (Although it does show off her total lack of waist which is what happens when you starve yourself and distort your actual body type. High waists work with curves.) The necklace is a nice touch and classes up what otherwise would be a pretty boring outfit. And while I don’t love the look of the shoes, Tom’s is a great company that donates a pair of shoes to South and Central Americans for every pair bought. So, social conscience outweighs fashion here.

Overall: B for eat some bundt cakes to give yourself a waist and this outfit will be really great.
